Autonomous heating San Pellegrino Terme is an Italian town of 4,840 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Located in the center of the Brembana Valley and surrounded by the Orobie Prealps, it is a renowned climatic health resort and resort, known worldwide due to the mineral water of the same name, S. Pellegrino. San Pellegrino Terme is located along the banks of the Brembo river, which divides the town in two, and is located in a natural valley, surrounded by hills whose highest peak is represented by Mount Zucco. Served by the Bergamo-Piazza Brembana railway until the 1960s, the village has since been connected to the valley only with the provincial road, which since December 2003 no longer crosses the town after the inauguration of two tunnels which allow faster traffic flow to the upper valley. San Pellegrino is 24 kilometers north of Bergamo and 54 kilometers north-east of Milan. History Antiquity and origins I pr Imi to settle in the area were probably the Orobi, people of Celtic origin, but the name San Pellegrino dates back to the eighth century AD when the bishops in the service of Charlemagne consecrated and erected parishes in the empire. The inhabited center was dedicated to San Pellegrino bishop of Auxerre and martyr. The Parish of San Pellegrino Terme has a precious relic of the Saint. The modern age While wars and revolutions are taking place in the rest of Lombardy, San Pellegrino remains peacefully isolated and only with the construction of the first rolling stock in the 16th century does it begin to flow there more and more people. The contemporary age At the end of the eighteenth century San Pellegrino developed as a spa, thanks to the sulphate-alkaline-earthy waters that gushed out at a constant temperature of 26 degrees, known since the Middle Ages. In the twentieth century, the town was transformed into an elegant spa resort. The Spa is created (belonging to Sanpellegrino SpA, a well-known industry that produces water and carbonated drinks which belongs to the Swiss Nestlé). The town's fame increased with the construction of the Municipal Casino in 1904 and the Grand Hotel in 1905. In 1961 the S. Pellegrino mineral water bottling plant and other drinks produced by Sanpellegrino SpA were built.
