Produced by Amazon Studios and Lux Vide, Hotel Costiera is an action drama with thriller undertones, centred on Daniel “DD” De Luca, played by Jesse Williams. A former Italian-American Marine, Daniel is hired as a fixer at an exclusive hotel in Positano, tasked with discreetly resolving the guests’ problems, whatever they may be. But when the hotel owner’s daughter mysteriously vanishes, his role takes a darker turn. With high-speed chases, blackmail and long-buried secrets, the plot unfolds against the rugged yet sun-drenched backdrop of Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

The lead role is played by Jesse Williams, already well known for portraying Dr Jackson Avery in Grey’s Anatomy. He is joined by an international cast featuring Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Alejandra Onieva and Jean‑Hugues Anglade. The series is directed by Adam Bernstein (who previously worked on episodes of Breaking Bad and Fargo) and Giacomo Martelli, with a screenplay written by Elena Bucaccio, Matthew Parkhill and Francesco Arlanch.

Filming locations for Hotel Costiera: from Naples to Positano

Filming took place primarily between February and May 2024 in Positano, the heart of the storyline. With its sea-facing terraces and narrow cobbled streets, the town becomes the perfect setting for a luxury hotel where every guest harbours a secret.

One of the most recognisable locations is Villa Treville, a historic seaside residence once owned by Franco Zeffirelli and now an exclusive boutique hotel. Many of the hotel scenes in the series were shot here.

The crew also filmed in other iconic spots across the region, including Amalfi, Ravello and Naples, the latter also featuring in the narrative as a nod to the protagonist’s Neapolitan roots.

When is Hotel Costiera coming out and where to watch it

After its premiere at the Taormina Film Festival in June 2025 and at the international Series Mania festival in France, Hotel Costiera will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from 24 September 2025. All episodes will be released at once, making it ideal for binge-watching.

Why the locations matter

Filming on location on the Amalfi Coast, rather than recreating interiors elsewhere, helped to capture a truly authentic atmosphere. The area’s bright, sun-drenched aesthetic, combined with the drama of the storyline, inevitably brings to mind series like The White Lotus.

However, Hotel Costiera strikes a different balance: action, suspense and place are interwoven into a single fabric. Sunset shots, boats drifting in the background, and the outlines of houses clinging to the cliffs create a visual and narrative contrast with the story’s steadily mounting tension.
