Which are the most digital cities in Italy?


Bergamo and Venice top the ICity Rank 2024, which lists eight cities that can be defined as fully digital.

Eight provincial capitals have won the title of fully digital cities in 2024, the eight most digital cities in Italy according to the ICity Rank drawn up in November 2024.

What is ICity Rank?

ICity Rank is the annual event organised by Fpa, a company belonging to the Digital360 group, to analyse the digital transformation of the 108 provincial capitals in Italy. The ranking – organised into three categories and based on 39 indicators constructed from around 200 variables – is presented as part of the Forum Pa Città, the event dedicated to urban innovation that concludes the work of the ICity Club.

Which cities are fully digital?

At the top of the 2024 ranking are eight cities defined as fully digital, which score over 75 points out of 100 in the three indexes and have digitalised their administration and integrated technology into all infrastructural aspects of the city.

Which cities are highly digital?

The group of highly digitalised cities includes 30 provincial capitals, 8 of which are very close to full digitalisation: Brescia, Cagliari, Parma, Perugia, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Turin and Trento.

Which cities are in transition?

Another 42 cities are considered to be in transition towards full digitalisation, having started to adopt technology for their services and showing growing results.

Which cities are still hybrid?

Another 21 cities are ‘hybrid’, where partial digitisation coexists with still strongly traditional elements.

Which cities are just starting out?

The bottom of the ranking is made up of 7 cities where the digital transformation is still in its infancy.
