By the early 20th century, small residential buildings were constructed around the craft workshops to house the kiln workers, and around the same time, the Church of Santa Maria della Provvidenza was built.

The furnaces remained in operation until the early 1960s. Today, visitors can still see the remains of the Pomilia and Veschi kilns, offering a glimpse into the area’s industrial past.
