Town information
Picturesque hilltop village, Montecarlo is famous for its history, the famous wine and the beautiful surrounding landscape.

King John of Bohemia and his son Charles IV helped the people fighting against the Florentines.
The new city, built in honor of Charles IV, was called Mons Karoli, then became Montecarlo.
The great fortress was built in the sixteenth century by Cosimo I dei Medici.
