Country house, to be refurbished, 1531 m², Centro, Mariano Comense

This ancient convent is located in the heart of Brianza. An architectural jewel founded in 1228, it bears witness to the Lombard heritage and tradition and still retains all of its historical imprint. The Franciscan convent was built on the ruins of a Lombard church dedicated to San Giorgio. The result is the current structure, a consequence of the interventions carried out in the 1700s, when it was purchased by the banker Ignazio Besana and readapted into a private residence.
The structure is spread over three different levels, with the possibility of creating an additional floor in the attic portion. Inside it is still possible to admire some rooms with eighteenth-century frescoes and the original Lombard terracotta floors. There is also a suggestive cloister made up of stone columns and cross vaults, overlooking an external park of about 3000 square meters which surrounds the property and has centennial plants inside and an underground icebox.
Finally, the convent is annexed small church with an octagonal plan.
Throughout history illustrious personalities such as Saint Anthony of Padua, Blessed Amedeo da Silva and Napoleon Bonaparte have stayed there.

Mariano Comense is an Italian town in the province of Como in Lombardy, an important industrial center Brianza, located in a strategic position, on the border between the high plain and the Como hill, between the Seveso stream and the Lambro river, halfway between Como and Monza, in the northern part of Brianza.
Among the places of interest can be find interesting religious architecture such as the plebeian parish church of Santo Stefano Protomartire, built before the year one thousand; the Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista and the Church of San Francesco.
The provincial road SP 32 passes through the city, which runs away from the connection between the former state road 35 dei Giovi and the state road 36 of Lake Como and Spluga.
The Mariano Comense station, located along the Milan-Asso railway, is served by regional routes and by the Mariano Comense-Milan Rogoredo line.
