The first news of the construction of the castrum of Candia comes after the events of the Fourth Crusade and the investiture in 1205 by the Podestà of Ivrea as counts and feudal lords of the Roero of the brothers Enrico, Guglielmo and Giacomo De Candia and Castiglione, of which it became the main possession in the Canavese.
The building, which owes its current appearance to the massive renovation works carried out in the second half of the 19th century, does not appear homogeneous, in fact, in part, it is with exposed bricks such as the tower with Ghibelline battlements, having a similar structure to the ancient and original tower of the castle of Castiglione.
