Pietralunga is an Italian town of 1,980 inhabitants [1] in the province of Perugia in Umbria. It is located in the north-eastern part of the Alta Valtiberina, at an altitude of 566 meters above sea level. The urban settlement occupies the end part of a hilly ridge sloping down towards the valley of the Carpinella stream, close to the Umbria-Marche Apennines. The walled center lies on the southern side of the hill covering a difference in height of 40-50 meters between the north and south sides of the city walls.
