Cingoli lake (also known as Castreccioni lake) is an artificial lake in the Marche region created by a dam on the Musone river in the 1980s. It is located in the municipality of Cingoli, Apiro and San Severino Marche in the province of Macerata and represents the largest artificial basin in the region, rich in aquatic fauna and migratory birds. The lake has a surface area of over 2 square kilometers and a depth that reaches approximately 55 m near the dam.
All along the shores of Lake Cingoli there are submerged or semi-emerging plants which offer excellent shelters for largemouth bass and pike considerable size. In the lake there are also other fish species such as pike-perch, brown trout, royal perch, chub, catfish, crucian carp, rudd and carp. The water is very clean and crystalline and is wedged between the hills so as to form three long ramifications; the waters of Lake Cingoli are of "category B" and to fish you need a fishing license B and a regional catch card. In recent years it has increasingly become a tourist destination where many farmhouses and bars are located on the banks; it is possible to navigate on the lake only with electric boats and pedal boats.
