Prenestino is a neighborhood that needs to be known and discovered because it has a lot to offer, well beyond those which are the most widespread beliefs and clichés. Services and transport, but above all places of interest and aggregation are not lacking in this portion of Rome which can certainly prove interesting also for those who intend to live there.
The Prenestino-Labicano is the seventh district of Rome, it is located in the of East Rome and takes its name from the Via Prenestina that crosses it. It is among the 15 neighborhoods of Rome born in 1911 but officially established in 1921, it covers an area of almost 5 square kilometers and is home to around 72 thousand inhabitants: it therefore has a particularly high population density. It has long been a predominantly rural area and began to develop and undergo increasing urbanization around 1950.
Green areas and places of interest
The neighborhood is affected by the presence of various green areas and sites of historical and archaeological. Among the latter, the Mausoleum of Saint Helena, the Catacombs of Saints Marcellinus and Peter, the Sepulcher of Eurysaces and the beautiful Porta Maggiore deserve special mention. The main parks in the neighborhood are the archaeological park of Villa Gordiani and Villa de Sanctis, also called Parco Casilino-Labicano. Prenestino is also characterized by significant examples of industrial architecture, in particular the former Pantanella pasta factory, now a residential centre, and the former Serono Pharmaceutical Institute, now a hotel.
The neighborhood has good connections with the historic center of Rome and with rest of the capital's territory. In particular, it is served by the Metro Line C via the Pigneto, Malatesta and Teano stations. It is also affected by the presence of the Rome-Giardinetti railway and connected by numerous bus lines. The houses and buildings that characterize this neighborhood are very different from each other, in terms of era, style and aesthetic and structural quality and these contrasts create the identity of the place and make it interesting and characteristic. In general, life in Prenestino runs fast and cheerful thanks to a lively and frenetic atmosphere, to the streets that are always lit and busy, and to the numerous and always lively and busy shops and public establishments.--6e24c1906a9068130b54e5bf04151f97!
