The voices of the young weavers seem to echo within the large rooms of this old workshop. Wide and high spaces flooded with light, now abandoned, still manage to convey the sacrifices of those little women. A distant, unmistakable and rhythmic background, the noise of a past time, the noise of the looms.
An "old" but fascinating former textile workshop, located a few steps from Piazza Duomo, in the quiet internal courtyard of a noble palace century, less than 200 meters from the bus stops (Line 30 which leads to Turin and Line 1 which leads to the schools of Chieri).
The Recovery Plan project (approved) was conceived with the intention of renovating the building by assigning it a residential destination, with this, a variant to the Recovery Plan can be agreed with the municipal administration so that an office or mixed use destination (office/residential) is granted. In the conversion project, however, it was considered appropriate to maintain the historical memory of the previous activities established, operating in the field of the textile industry, through the preservation of the clearly industrial image that the building transmits. The project therefore develops in compliance with the volumes.
The building develops over two floors above ground, with significant internal heights so as to be equivalent in height to a generally three-storey building.
The main body extends, for part of the ground floor, in a low building raised to one floor above ground, so as to create an L-shaped development.
The main access to the building is from the courtyard onto which it overlooks, vault reachable from the driveway entrance hall in via Principe Amedeo.
On the ground floor, in the room currently accessible from the driveway door to the courtyard (approximately 83 m2), garages have been designed for parking three vehicles. The remaining rooms on the ground floor (approx. 197 m2) and the entire first floor (approx. 190 m2) could be converted into living spaces.
The considerable height of the first floor (4.40 m) combined with the need to replace the roof structure will allow the recovery of the attic floor for residential use, through the construction of a new attic at a useful height on the first floor of 2.70 m .
The property is served by all the infrastructures and services necessary for its use. There are meters for water, electricity and methane gas and the related connection lines to the backbones on the street. The building is connected to the mixed public sewer on via Principe Amedeo.
