The municipality of Graglia has an elongated shape in the north-west / south-east direction; the Sacro Monte di Graglia peak is only the entrance to the much higher Colma di Mombarone (2,371 m), which leads to the Valle d'Aosta. The summit of Mombarone can be reached in about four hours on foot, and offers a splendid panorama of the Pennine Alps. It is possible to stay in the area of the summit by taking advantage of the Mombarone refuge, not far from the summit and open only in the months of July and August [4]. Hydrographically it belongs to the basin of the Elvo torrent[5].
