Located on the slope of colli Berici the Commenda villa has the appearance of an old Venetian manor with attached rustic buildings. It is not a villa in the classic sense, but it is distinguished above all by the distinctiveness and nobility of its origin, which dates back 8 centuries. A dense park of centuries-old plants surrounds it. It was built in the 12th century as a hospice with an adjoining church presumably by the monk-knights of the Order of the Temple. The general layout of the building is the original one, at least the 18th-century one according to existing maps. In 1997 a wall painting dated around the 13th century depicting St. Christopher, patron saint of pilgrims, and another depicting possibly St. Martha dating from the 14th-15th centuries were discovered inside the main building. In 1998 the Romanesque arch with its lintel of the ancient entrance portal to the church was brought to light. In 2001, the roof, under-roof and exterior plaster of the entire complex was restored. On the whole complex and surrounding land there is a constraint also transcribed, imposed under Law 1/6/39 n 1089 of the Ministry of Education.RIF. VS26 EURO 750.000
