Exactly so the owners tell me about that event.
"You know Lucie, this cathedral is incredibly the only work that the architect Aalto has created in Italy. It was also the first of the Catholic churches he designed and perhaps the most desired first of all because in Italy, a land that he loved since he was young, and then because it is close to the river Reno and the flow of its waters, a detail that the architect exploited for the design and positioning of the baptismal font... ."
And that's actually how it is: I opened the living room window and from the terrace you can see very well the church, the large square and the bell tower which seems to be in continuity with the Cileo. Very impressive and very impressive is also to think that the Arch. Aalto was right here and from here, he studied the places and got the inspiration to create such a wonderful thing!
Only enlightened minds can transform simple and formless matter into wonder.
But have you ever gone to see this beautiful Church? Go there, it's worth it and then, while you're in the area, go to Rocchetta Mattei which is only a few hundred meters away from the house.... lots of stuff!
But I'm not here to do territorial marketing but I'm here to tell you about the villa which is 10 meters from the Cathedral, feels its influence, its strength and perceives its light.
So I'll be back to tell you about this large 1950s/60s villa. The project of the plant is beautiful and original, its spaces are directed and studied, just like Aalto's cathedral, to capture all the light that is abundant in this valley. The rooms are all very large and bright despite an external tree that has become perhaps a little too majestic today....
Anyway, there is a beautiful living room that welcomes me on the ground floor divided from the dining area by a large fireplace. Immediately beyond there is the original 60s kitchen. I pass the 4 steps that separate me from the first sleeping area and there are two bedrooms, a nice large bathroom and a study. From here a round staircase takes me upstairs where there is a closet, two other bedrooms, a bathroom and a corridor that leads out to the garden.
This part of the house is entirely in full 50s/early 60s style and is very nice. The well-preserved typical details are certainly worth highlighting.
However, a staircase takes me downstairs from the living area.
Here everything changes and you go to the mountains: there is a large, beautiful tavern with a majestic fireplace, a sitting room, a kitchen in mountain style (with cheap period stove) and a bathroom.
