Lari, which has a wall with three access doors and is characterized by the massive structure of the Castello dei Vicari. Important military garrison of the Pisan Republic until its fall under Florence, it became not only the residence of the Vicars (Florentine governors) until 1848, but also a prison, place of torture and court. Today it is an interesting dynamic interactive museum where you can discover history through holographic projections of ancient characters on life-size screens that tell disturbing stories such as that of the ghost of Rosso della Paola. Ceremonies and weddings are held at the Castle. Inside, the Filippo Baldinucci Civic Museum which contains finds from the Etruscan to the Renaissance period.

In the surrounding area, the paths allow you to immerse yourself in the green countryside, discovering villages, such as Casciana Alta with the Romanesque church of San Nicola in Sessana, Sant'Ermo and Usigliano. The latter has a small museum of agricultural activities, with cellar and cup maker, as well as a section dedicated to Italian "peasant cribs".
