HISTORY NOTES
The building in question is part of a beautiful series of stately buildings which, starting from the Sparanise square, are aligned in succession up to the “Cappella” district.
This building is aligned third from the left, on the narrow paved street, which leads to the former “arms blades” factory, the old Bourbon factory from the first half of the 19th century, later dismantled and brought to the North by the Piedmontese conquerors.
This palace is accessed from Corso del Popolo (today Corso Solimene), through an imposing piperno portal which leads to a wide uphill avenue. After a dozen metres, this turns to the right and continues further, coming out in a large dirt square, once used for the parking of carriages, horses and carts used for loading and unloading household goods.
On the right there is still the entrance to the building today which opens onto a majolica hallway with polychrome "riggiole", from which the staircase leading to the upper floors branches off. Here, on the first floor, that is to say the so-called "piano nobile" ” resided the master of the house, with his family and occasional guests of importance, while somewhere in the building there must also have been accommodation for the Bourbon officer and his collaborators responsible for the management and surveillance of the “prisoners” ( common criminals accused of crimes against people or property).
Apartments were once located on each floor and were divided into rooms and halls, some of which had cross vaults and were frescoed with grotesques.
Over time, the internal front of the building, in its lower part, underwent profound modifications. In fact, the ground rooms were transformed into a small theatre.
Wanting to give some hints on the architectural characteristics, it must be said that on the outside it presents a sober neoclassical configuration modulated according to the classic styles of frames, balconies, string courses and its own formal structures of eighteenth-nineteenth century architecture.--a3ebc1c7435b036452cca8c927aa8a60!
