Roncobello is an Italian municipality of 415 inhabitants[2] in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Located in the valley of the Valsecca stream, lateral to the upper Brembana Valley, it is about 47 kilometers north of the Orobic capital.
The toponym should derive from the Latin Runcus which indicates land with terraces. Other interpretations would trace it back to the word Ronch, which in local dialect means hill with steep walls. The adjective Beautiful was added only in relatively recent times by the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele II, who was enchanted by the amenity of the place during one of his visits.
