Dairy farm Pigno Monte Martello, Cagli

On a delightful hill, which dominates the valleys of the Burano river and the Screbbia stream, (...) lies the church of San Severo di Pigno, surrounded by ancient oak trees. This is the description we find in a 1943 text relating to this farmhouse with adjoining church, but the first written testimonies of this building date back to 1253. It is a special construction, a historic property of 520 gross and 400 net square meters, located in a place where you can breathe tranquility, with a long story to tell centuries, which must be explored and appreciated and which is part of the intrinsic value of this object, a rare value to find in other places. The construction was entirely made of local stone maintaining the original materials, and was renovated in 1992 and then always maintained. The rooms are divided into 2 parts, on one side the church which still maintains some frescoes and frames and the decorations of the main altar, completely renovated. On the opposite side is the house; on the ground floor the loggia leads to the living spaces, the kitchen, the bathroom and the service rooms (laundry and cellar). The rooms are characterized by wooden beams and joists and tiles, exposed stone walls. The internal staircase leads to the sleeping area on the first floor with 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The courtyard surrounding the building is characterized by fruit trees, centuries-old oaks and some olive trees, two small vineyards complete the rustic garden. The view extends over the surrounding hills as far as the eye can see up to the Apennines. The value of this property is demonstrated by the fact that on some occasions it took part in the opening days of the FAI fund (Italian Environment Fund). The water is supplied by the public network and is collected in a cistern to be distributed at home using an autoclave. There is also a large underground cistern that collects rainwater for irrigation use. The heating is LPG with radiators. The window frames are made of wood with double glazing, mosquito nets are present in all the windows on the first floor. The relevant area is 6,600m2. The church and the house are equipped with an alarm system connected to the police. The nearest town is less than 2 km away as is the connection to the highway. Nearby we find Cagli, a pretty and lively town at the foot of the Apennines also known for its suggestive bathing rivers, Acqualagna famous for its truffles and the beautiful Urbino, a UNESCO heritage site. The sea of the Adriatic coast is about half an hour away by car.
