Foppolo is an Italian municipality of 172 inhabitants[3] in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy, located in the Alta Val Brembana, about 58 kilometers north of the Orobic capital.
The territory of Foppolo is divided into several districts: Arale, Costa, Moretti, Piano, Rovera, Sponda, Teggie, Cortivo, and Vendulaperto. Many of these are uninhabited, but maintain intact the rural style that has characterized them over the centuries.
The historic nucleus, however, has seen its appearance distorted in the name of tourism: thousands of apartments (1800 uninhabited), used for the of "second homes", built almost everywhere, have completely distorted the original landscape. From a historical point of view, you can still admire the parish church, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. Built in the 18th century in place of another, originally from the 15th century, destroyed by an avalanche, it is made up of three altars and houses works of good value, including a wooden Pietà from the 15th century. You can still admire the various ancient districts, still intact. In the 20th century it was the church of the Beata Vergine della Neve.
