Location
Ragusa Ibla, in the extreme edge of southern Sicily, declared in 2002 World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is one of the Baroque Centers of excellence in the Val di Noto. With ancient origins, in fact it dates back to the Neolithic, it stands on the site of the famous Hibla Heraia. It has seen, throughout history, all the dominations that have passed through the island, each leaving its own mark and forming a stratification of cultures that have created, together, a "UNICUM": from the Greeks to the Romans, from the Arabs to the Normans, under whom it became an autonomous county. After the disastrous earthquake of 1693, Ragusa rose again, unlike other centres, on the same site.
