Roncobello is an Italian municipality of 415 inhabitants[2] in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Located in the valley of the Valsecca torrent, lateral to the upper Brembana Valley, it is about 47 kilometers north of the Orobic capital. The first documents attesting to the existence of the village date back to 1258, when mention is made of the subdivision of the lands, which occurred almost 70 years earlier, carried out by the bishop of Bergamo at that time, owner of the entire area, received by the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire.
In an act prior to this, drawn up in 1234, the Bordogna hamlet was named, whose name would date back to Bordonus, probably an ancient inhabitant who owned properties in the area.
There is little information about the town even in the medieval era, when it is known that it was placed in the fiefdom headed by the Ghibelline family of the Visconti, who gave permission, to every person belonging to their faction, to kill a Guelph. Despite this, there are no documents attesting to battles that occurred on municipal soil, other than the presence of some fortifications present in the territory of the Bordogna hamlet.
In 1442 the town became part of the Republic of Venice and was included in the district administrative of the Brembana Valley beyond the Goggia, which included all the municipalities of the upper valley, with the capital located in Valnegra; enjoyed tax breaks and numerous privileges.
