Levanzo (in Sicilian Lèvanzu) is the smallest and also the most romantic of the islands belonging to the Egadi archipelago . Its landscapes, unique in their kind, are made up of white limestone rocks which are divided into numerous caves.
The town is very small and from the sea it appears like a nativity scene with a small port which is just 15 km from Trapani, in a strategic position for reach the other islands of the Egadi.
The island has no roads (apart from a small stretch of asphalt road that leads to the Faraglione beach), you can only move on foot and life takes on the rhythm of the sun. This condition contributes largely to the integrity of its scenic beauty.
The marine area surrounding the island and the entire archipelago is a protected reserve: the largest in the Mediterranean with its over 50 thousand hectares.
Its seabeds, as well as marine species, are rich in archaeological finds; the island, in fact, is famous for being the site of the Battle of the Egadi Islands, in the battle during the First Punic War between the Romans and Carthaginians, in 241 BC.
