Ancient Palmento of Marzamemi
In the seaside village of Marzamemi, one of the most enchanting places in Italy, we offer for sale a disused ancient millstone that was once used as a wine cellar and wine shipment for one of the most historically important naval trades. The property stands on a plot of land measuring approximately 1850 square metres and consists of a main building, the wine cellar, developed on two levels and connected to the small port of Marzamemi by a canal through which ships for the wine trade were loaded.
Two smaller buildings represent the ancient taverns where sharecroppers and owners were welcomed after a long journey with Sicilian carts to bring the grapes to the pressing. Where the palmento ends, the caretaker's house begins, built on two levels with a view of the sea and a long horizon as far as the island of Portopalo di Capo Passero.
The entire building is in need of general renovation.
