Very cute chalet located in the municipality of Ligonchio (RE) loc. Ospitaletto Via Pradarena n. 10. Ospitaletto is located in the Rossendola torrent valley, in the upper Reggio Emilia Apennines, a short distance from the Pradarena pass and the border with Tuscany. The town, 4 km south of Ligonchio, develops along the provincial road that leads to Pradarena and Garfagnana. Ospitaletto takes its name from a hospital for travelers and pilgrims which, according to tradition, was founded at the behest of Matilde of Canossa[1]. The existence of a structure intended for the reception of travelers has been attested since the 15th century. The establishment of the parish dates back to 1662, the year in which it was separated from that of Ligonchio. In 1726 the hospital was destroyed by an avalanche. In the second half of the 19th century, due to the very difficult economic conditions, a first migration phenomenon began to occur both towards the cities of Tuscany and towards Argentina. On 7 September 1920, Ospitaletto was almost razed to the ground by a very strong earthquake that devastated the nearby Garfagnana. A house and the church bell tower were saved from the collapse. Starting after the Second World War, most of the population emigrated to the cities of the Po Valley, Tuscany and Genoa. In the sixties, Ospitaletto began to establish itself as a tourist destination thanks to the construction of ski resorts and residential complexes. Ospitaletto has a small ski resort which has 3 downhill slopes (black, red and blue) and a school field for a total of 7 km. The ski lifts are 3 ski lifts between 1200 m and 1600 m. The facilities have been closed since winter 2010 and the project to relaunch the ski resort is under discussion.--474929d91be9a89a1b7bf3351f93fb4f!
