Porta Furba (arch of Sixtus V) is the arch that forms at the intersection between the Felice aqueduct and Via Tuscolana, within the Tuscolano district in Rome.
The work was carried out under the pontificate of Sixtus V (Felice Peretti) when in 1585, the pope wanted to undertake the construction of a new aqueduct (Felice aqueduct) to overcome the water supply problems that afflicted Rome in that period. However, the construction of Porta Furba wanted to stylistically reconnect with the school of ancient Roman architects, who used to create monumental arches where the aqueducts intersected the passage of the great consular roads. The origin of the name and toponym of Porta Furba derives from an alteration of the word "formae", a term that in the Middle Ages was used to give the name to the aqueducts, as they are in fact called in the charter of Eufrosino della Volpaia of 1547.
