Lunigiana (north of Tuscany) is an Italian historical region, divided from an administrative point of view between Liguria and Tuscany.

It takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Luna, located at the mouth of the Magra river, not far from where Sarzana now stands in the province of La Spezia: the influence of the city, which has become the most important port of the Ligurian Sea, was such as to connote with its own name the entire surrounding area.
