The small hamlet of Acquara extends on the western side of the Deserto hill, in an enchanting panoramic position. The name of the hamlet of Acquara derives from the quantity of water that once flowed there, coming from the Deserto locality which overlooks it. The church of Acquara is dedicated to San Vito. Of modest dimensions, it has a single nave with apse and dome; the High Altar is in polychrome marble, from the eighteenth century. In the gallery stands a painting of the Madonna with S. Vito and S. Michele Arcangelo from the 17th century. XVIII.
Of the two altars on the left, one is from the eighteenth century and houses the wooden statue of the Madonna del Rosario, replacing a canvas of the Virgin of the same title, the other is dedicated to the Holy Family, to the SS. Nicola and Gennaro. It is surmounted by a canvas depicting the Holy Family and the Saints themselves by the painter Antonio Fumo, 1736.
On the epistle side, the Baptismal Font and an eighteenth-century altar, first dedicated to Purgatory and then to the Sacred Heart. The second altar, from 1746, is dedicated to the Holy Family and goes by the name of St. Joseph. The parish was built in Acquara in 1674 at the behest of Monsignor Neri. The bell tower, after the restoration carried out by the parish priests Aragona and Ruggiero, was rebuilt in 1903 by the parish priest Ruggiero.
