Historical notes: There is a plaque in the courtyard of the Villa that testifies and attests to its possession for a few decades by the mathematician and cartographer Paolo Dal Pozzo Toscanelli (1397-1482), who provided his services to the Portuguese court and Christopher Columbus. In fact, calculations and studies relating to the drafting of the maps later used by the explorer for the discovery of the Americas are attributed to him. Dal Pozzo Toscanelli was also a friend and consultant to the architect Brunelleschi, to whom he provided valuable technical support on several occasions. Later, in 1500, the property was sold to the powerful Florentine Nelli family, before passing to the noble Mazzucconi family in 1689 and to the Cianfogni family in 1707.
