Gurro is a small village located in the upper Cannobina Valley and has 122 inhabitants. Easily reached from Cannobio (16 km), if you come from Lake Maggiore, or from Malesco (18 km), if you come from the nearby Vigezzo Valley, this small village has a very ancient history. In fact, its origin is said to date back to 1525, when some Scottish mercenary soldiers camped in the village and never left.
Gurro still retains an old historical centre with stone houses with large wooden loggias, close to each other, and small streets running through the entire village. The centre of the old village is home to the Cannobina Valley Ethnographic Museum, the 'Circolo degli Scozzesi', two bars, restaurants and shops.
