Zogno is an Italian municipality of 8,617 inhabitants[2] in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy. The municipality is located in the lower Brembana Valley on a slope between the eastern slope of Monte Zucco (1232 m asl) and a bend of the Brembo river. Located in the lower portion of the Brembana Valley not far from San Pellegrino Terme (4 km), the capital extends along the road at the bottom of the valley, on the orographic right bank of the Brembo river, while the other inhabited centers are mainly located on the left bank. The town is also located at the foot of the northern slope of Canto Alto and the eastern side of Monte Zucco. The area where the town stands has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as attested by the finds found in a local cave called "Büsa dell'Andrea" .

There are documents dating back to the end of the 12th century which testify to the existence of Zogno as a rural municipality: in the History of Zogno and some nearby lands by Bortolo Belotti we read that a parchment from the Monastery of Astino from 1220 mentions Giovanni Geze as " Consul" of Zogno[7].

Zogno became an important center under the domination of Venice. In past centuries the population was mainly employed in agriculture, livestock breeding and sheep-rearing, although there was no shortage of artisanal activities linked to the spinning of wool, linen and weaving of cloth.

In the hamlet of Poscante on 18 December 1773 the famous brigand Vincenzo Pacchiana (Pacì Paciana) was born, an Italian Robin Hood who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, called by his contemporaries: king of the road, king of the mountain. During the 19th century the paper and cement industries took hold. Today, thanks to constant development, both in the economic field (important for example the Manifattura Valle Brembana, a textile industry which still exists today, but recently went bankrupt) and in the urban field, Zogno is the most populous town in the Brembana Valley with numerous commercial activities, industries textiles, mining, wood craftsmanship and construction companies.

With a royal decree of 16 February 1928, the neighboring municipalities of Stabello, Poscante, Grumello de' Zanchi, Endenna, Somendenna and Spino al Brembo were merged into the municipality of Zogno[--2eb87cfed65e83a7e5e590bc21d76264!
