The municipality of Chioggia is located in the southernmost part of the province of Venice and extends as far as the mouth of the Adige. The historic center of the city is located at the southern end of the lagoon, on a group of islands divided by canals and connected to each other by bridges. Unlike Venice, most of the area is accessible by cars and public transport. With the nearby Sottomarina, located in the stretch of land that divides the lagoon from the sea, it forms a single urban center thanks to the creation of the Isola dell'Unione and its homonymous bridge that cuts across the Lusenzo lagoon. The Sottomarina beach extends from the port mouth of Chioggia to the mouth of the Brenta river, while the Isolaverde beach extends from the mouth of the Brenta river to the mouth of the Adige river. All along the beach there are renowned bathing establishments, which are an economic resource for the city. The rest of the municipality is located inland and includes the mouths of the Brenta and Adige, with numerous other minor rivers and canals to the south and the internal lagoon coast up to the Millecampi Valley north-west of Chioggia. Also noteworthy is the presence of the Bosco Nordio nature reserve between the two hamlets of Sant'Anna and Cavanella d'Adige, which provides a rare example of what was the maquis of the upper Adriatic coast which in ancient times characterized much of the territory of the whole the Gulf of Venice.--c781c436078cc17f1900c81272878c07!
