Well known to fans of dairy products, Branzi is the name not only of a tasty cheese produced with mountain mountain milk, but also of the place where it was put point and of which it represents the (gastronomic) flagship.
Located in Alta Val Brembana, 874 meters above sea level, with around 700 inhabitants, it is worth a visit both as a starting point for multiple excursions in the surrounding area and as a pleasant mountain village where you can spend a day out of the city.
The heart of Branzi is the parish church dedicated to San Bartolomeo Apostolo, built in 1737; always in the center of the village we find the Roman bridge located in the Carbunì area, at the time a connection to the coal mining deposits in the Lago del Diavolo area. In addition to the "centre", Branzi has four other hamlets, Cagnoli, Gardata, Rivioni, Ripe ( where this beautiful house is located).
Tourism certainly represents one of the economic drivers of the country: between excursions, suggestive landscapes and fairs, to be honest, Branzi represents a nice place to spend your mountain holidays.
Among the various destinations reachable from Branzi, we mention the Gemelli Lakes, Monte Colle – Pizzo Badile; other itineraries allow you to reach Carona (via Piana), Valleve (via the Prati mule track), Belfiore or Cornello (these two are ideal for children and the elderly). In addition to excursions, there are many activities we can do including horse riding, Nordic skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoeing.
To remember the sacrifice and the economic past of Branzi, the “Le Piödere” Quarry Museum offers the visitor a beautiful testimony of what the hard work in the mines was like; there are still activities dedicated to the processing of slate, a quartz rock which in terms of hardness and resistance is compared to granite and used for roofing, floors and coverings in general.
Naturally, Branzi does not fail to delight us with excellent gastronomy: in addition to renowned Branzi cheese, we cannot miss a plate of taragna polenta (we remind you of the end of summer festival) or the ever green casoncelli (with Branzi) and jugged roe deer.--f4e1feba49e913874a2954d263b43bed!
