D The territory of the municipality of Tuglie, which extends over an area of 8.4 km², is located on the Ionian side of the hilly area of the Serre Salentine, in the central-southern part of the Salento peninsula. It is between 57 and 14 meters above sea level. From a meteorological point of view, Tuglie falls within the territory of the lower Salento which has a purely Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot humid summers. Based on the reference averages, the average temperature of the coldest month, January, is around +9 °C, while that of the hottest month, August, is around +25.1 °C. The average annual rainfall, which is around 676 mm, has a minimum in spring-summer and a peak in autumn-winter. Of considerable importance as an architectural structure is certainly the ducal palace, which was built in the early 17th century. Since 1982, part of the structure has been occupied by the Museum of Rural Civilization and the popular traditions of Salento. It has a simple façade, enriched by balconies with baroque balustrades and the portal, which is accessed via a staircase made of carparo and Lecce stone. In the garden there is an ancient seventeenth-century well. It borders to the north-west with the municipality of Sannicola, to the north-east with the municipality of Neviano, to the east and south with the municipality of Parabita, to the west with the municipality of Alezio, just 7km from Gallipoli.
