The Palazzo Coli Bizzarrini, formerly Franceschini, is a wonderful palace of historical and artistic interest, built in the first half of the sixteenth century for Bernardo Francesconi,
who entrusted the project to Baldassarri Peruzzi, who never completed, and then Pietro Cataneo intervened on the project.
The Palace, located in the heart of Siena at Piazza Gramsci, preserves the characteristic of one of the most important examples of Sienese Mannerist architecture.
The façade on Via del Cavallerizzo is very unitary and harmonious, elegant and clear are the silhouettes of the framed windows with gables above and stone string courses, contrasted with the indefinite terracotta surface. The main entrance to the Palace consists of a lowered barrel-vaulted entrance hall and the access stairs to the upper floors, inside the sixteenth-century courtyard has two orders of loggias on the two noble floors defined by elegant columns, with Corinthian and Doric capitals above. On the main floor there are two rooms with frescoes attributed to Baldassarri Peruzzi. Other rooms on the first and third floors have frescoed ceilings dating back to the nineteenth century, however, the building preserves numerous elements, both in the main façade and in the interiors, such as the splendid grotesque fresco on the first noble floor. The Grotesques, initially attributed to Peruzzi, has lately been attributed by Bagnoli to Bartolomeo di David, friend and pupil of Peruzzi.

From the windows you can admire the corbels of the cornice of the palace, with the heraldic coats of arms of the Piccolomini and Tolomei families, in memory of the marriage unions.
