Galatina is a municipality in the province of Lecce of ca. 30.000 inhabitants centrally located, only 20km from the capital in the south. From the meteorological point of view, Galatina is part of the Salento region, which has a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm wet summers. The dialect spoken in Galatina is the dialect of Salento with influence influenced by the dominions and peoples that have followed in the centuries: Messages, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Lombards, Normans, Albanians, French and Spanish. The main crops are vines and olive trees, though with the use of artesian wells it has been possible to produce fruit and vegetables.
