Alezio (Aletium in Latin) is a municipality of ca. 5,000 inhabitants located on the western side of Salento. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Sannicola and Tuglie, to the east with the municipality of Parabita, to the south with the municipality of Matino and to the west with the municipality of Gallipoli.
