Palazzo Cavour, one of the best examples of 18th century Piedmontese Baroque architecture, is one of the most significant historic buildings in Turin. The palace, located at the intersection of the Lagrange and Cavour streets, was built by Gian Giacomo Gerolamo Planteri (or Plantery) in 1729, commissioned by Michele Antonio Benso di Cavour and develops around the courtyard of honor and the rustic one ( with the former stables with access from via Lagrange), according to a scenographic sequence of spaces connected to the elegant atrium, divided into two rooms with vaulted ceilings and decorated with stuccos. In 1754 the building was enlarged with the construction of the new sleeve for renting apartments on Via Cavour designed by Giuseppe Bovis. The building is the residence where the statesman Camillo Benso Earl of Cavour was born and lived. In these environments the newspaper Il Risorgimento was founded and the fate of the new Italian homeland was discussed and concretized with the most illustrious personages of the time.
