Sunday trip destination for the Milanese, Morimondo is a green oasis in the most industrialized and urbanized area of Italy. There is nothing around that could upset the serenity of a day in the countryside: no improbable condominiums, visual ugliness or concrete. We are in the Ticino Valley Regional Park, a gentle river that shows its best from an environmental point of view in the section from Abbiategrasso to Zelata. The area retains its agricultural vocation: everywhere, farmhouses with vegetable gardens and fruit trees or land cultivated with rice, meat and zero km milk. Here the landscape of precious waters typical of the Po Valley resists: fountains, meadows, rice fields; and then poplar groves, alder groves (the black alder is the king of trees), fields that follow one another as far as the eye can see. In Morimondo there are 14 farmhouses, some of which derive directly from the grange founded by the Cistercians, such as Fallavecchia, Fiorentina, Monte Oliveto, Coronate, Basiano, Ticinello; others have become quality agritourisms with their own products (cotechino, rice, beef) such as the Lasso farmhouse; still others associate agriculture with culture, hosting screenings of the traveling review Cinema in cascina in the barn or farmyard.
The whole territory lends itself to being visited on foot or by bicycle.
