Originally, according to some sources, the fortress consisted of more than 350 rooms, but was destroyed during clashes and sieges already in the Norman age and in subsequent buildings only the limestone masonry structures survived.
In fact, the Castle of Terraloggia, renovated in the 16th and 18th centuries, ended up being transformed into a rural villa, which was the nucleus of this feudal territory. Also the adjacent church of SS. Pietro and Paolo, now reduced to a ruin, was part of the ancient town.
