Pitigliano, a still uncontaminated village in the Maremma, is a medieval village that presents itself to the visitor who arrives from the coast, on a mass of tuff, almost suspended in the void, surrounded by valleys and with a really interesting historic center: the town stands all on an inimitable tuff cliff and where the cliff ends, the medieval and earlier Etruscan houses begin as evidenced by the spectacular cellars, completely chiseled into the tuff that were the ancient Etruscan settlements.
Pitigliano is located in the middle of that part of Maremma which goes from the Argentario coast to Porto Ercole, Porto Santo Stefano, Talamone, Capalbio, Parco dell'Uccellina, Monte Amiata, Lake Bolsena, the thermal baths of Saturnia. (all locations that can be reached in less than an hour). All in the middle of the countryside.
