Auzate is a hamlet of the municipality of Gozzano, situated on the hills and south-west of Lake Orta.
In the Middle Ages Auzate was part of the parish of Gozzano, until 1568 when it was made an independent parish by the Bishop of Novara, Cardinal Serbelloni.
The church of San Biagio, which stands in the centre of the hamlet, was consecrated in 1662.
In 1928, the autonomous municipality of Auzate was merged with Gozzano, becoming one of its hamlets.
This is a small lake, only 15 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide, but it is full of things to see. Considered one of the most popular destinations in the region, it offers spectacular natural scenery, romantic villages and unforgettable panoramic balconies. Born from the Sempione Glacier, this suggestive stretch of water, surrounded by woods, is just half an hour from Stresa and is a perfect destination to spend a few days of relaxation. You can visit the neoclassical villas with their gardens full of camellias and azaleas in Orta San Giulio. From the top of the village, the stately palaces with their open galleries overlooking the gardens slope down to the lake. Piazza Motta, enclosed on three sides by porticoes, is the salon of Lake Orta, where you can discover the shops selling local specialities, practically on the water of the lake. From Piazza Motta you can see the characteristic island of San Giulio, also known as the "island of silence", where the peace of the place will surround you.
