This spacious (~301 m² / 3240 ft²) 400 year old home is nestled in the centre of Carezzano, a historic village in the hills of Tortona, in the Piedmont region of north-west Italy.

The home has been carefully restored, maintaining and highlighting original features while including the best of contemporary craftsmanship. Features include wood paneled ceilings, wooden iron studded entrance door and gates, exposed stone walls, wooden beams, a large fireplace in the sitting room, a bedroom fireplace and a stone staircase.

External doors and windows were substituted with insulated double-glazing replacements in 2016. The original hall door was kept by adding a double glazed door to maximize insulation while preserving the original character. This home is ready to move into, no building works required!

— Entrance & Courtyard
• French doors lead onto the beautifully cobbled courtyard, with its flowering shrubs, vines, roses and jasmine hedges. The courtyard, with a well, is reminiscent of Italian courtyards dreamt of through the ages. There is also an original wood-fired bread oven, in what is now the fitted laundry and utility room.

The house façade is simply beautiful to see from the courtyard, having been lovingly restored to allow the stonework to breathe once more in the glorious Italian sunshine.

Car parking is in the shared outer courtyard, in front of the characterful wooden gates.

— Ground Floor
• The ground floor includes an elegant sitting room, dining room and dine-in kitchen.
• The dining room and the sitting room, with its open fireplace, original inset wooden bookshelves and polished wood paneled ceiling, are presently furnished with antiques (some of which could be available). Gas fired radiator heating is also available throughout the home.

— Upper Floor
• A particularly endearing feature of this floor is “The Bridge“, which connects the sleeping area to its bathroom and dressing room. The Bridge has handmade wooden and glass sliding doors and 4 skylights. There is an almost nautical feel, although the views are of the delightful private inner courtyard, the village rooftops, sunsets and church steeple. Great for growing flowers and plants!
• A central study (or social space) leads to three double bedrooms:
- The spacious master bedroom has a modern glass-enclosed fireplace, which adds to its comfort, along with original terracotta floor, exposed stone wall and high ceiling.
- The second bedroom has a beautiful beamed ceiling, visible stone walls and views of the Alps.
- The third bedroom has also kept its original terracotta floor and a window overlooking the courtyard.

• A large spacious loft has Norwegian hardwood floors, exposed beams and Velux skylights to let the sunlight stream in. Includes a bathroom.
