The town maintains the plan of the ancient feudal village intact: the town, which follows the line of the fortifications, gathers in circles around the space from which the castle dominated the valley. Among the most valuable attractions, the Romanesque Pieve (in the Pieve Santa Luce hamlet), the wildlife oasis of Lake Santa Luce, the alabaster eco-museum (part of a museum network that also involves Volterra and Castellina Marittima) and the uninhabited village of Monteforti, with the remains of the sanctuary of the Madonna (once the most important in the area). A few km away from the property, in the village of Pomaia, along via Poggiberna which descends from the village towards the valley floor of the river Fine, is the Lama Tzong Khapa institute, an international center for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism. Founded at the end of the 70s, the Institute is housed in an ancient stone manor house, surrounded by olive groves, rows of trees and woodland. The Center consecrated in 1982 by the visit of the Holy Dalai Lama, houses a community made up of monks and lay people and is a school of higher studies on Buddhism.
