Albissola Marina (is an Italian town of 5 411 inhabitants in the province of Savona in Liguria.
It is famous together with Albisola Superiore (with which it forms the territory called " Albisole ") for the processing of ceramics, and is one of the founders of the AICC (Italian Association of the City of Ceramics). transcribed in 1915 by the Heraldic Council of the Kingdom of Italy for the granting of the new Albissola coat of arms.
Albissola Marina is located on the coast of the Riviera del Beigua, contiguous to Sa vona and the nearby town of Albisola Superiore, from which it is divided by the mouth of the Sansobbia stream.
Albissola Marina was founded by the Ligurian Ingauni in prehistoric times but it is with the Roman Empire that it acquired fame and importance above all thanks to the proximity of the site of Alba Docilia, now included in the municipal territory of Albisola Superiore, near the Romanesque church of San Pietro.
The invasions by the barbarians followed which led to the division of the village into two distinct centers: a village in the coastal area and another settlement first hill slopes
In the early Middle Ages it became an integral part of the Committee of Vado, then in the Marquisate of Savona and finally in its own marquisate led by the Aleramic descendant Guelfo d'Albisola in 1122 [6].
