The Borgo Superiore, located at 1120 meters above sea level, was the true center of the town until the nineteenth century.
Along Via Des Ambrois there is an ancient fountain, the old municipal building, the old Alberto Picco barracks, some of the houses of the notables of the city (the Bermond, Odiard-Des Ambrois houses and the Gally house, the latter dating back to the Middle Ages) which they are among the most beautiful buildings in Oulx. Cavalier Luis François Des Ambrois de Nevache, minister of Carlo Alberto and president of the Senate of the Kingdom of Italy was born here.

In Oulx there are two exits of the A32 motorway, Turin-Bardonecchia, open to traffic at beginning of the 90s, through which Turin can be reached in 40 minutes. The Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere- (TGV) station is located on the Frejus railway line. From the Oulx station, bus services depart for all the towns of the Upper Susa Valley and for Briançon.
