THE HISTORY of Orani:
The area was already inhabited in the pre-Nuragic, Nuragic and Roman periods, due to the presence in the territory of some domus de janas, numerous nuraghi and ruins of spa buildings.
In the Middle Ages the villa, which was divided into two villages, it belonged to the Giudicato of Torres and was part of the curatoria of Sarule first and then of Ottana. In the area there was another villa, Oddini, a center dating back to Roman times, which was destroyed in the Aragonese era. At the fall of the Giudicato (around 1259) it passed to the Giudicato of Arborea and from 1410 to the Marquisate of Oristano. Upon the final defeat of the Arbori people, in 1478, it came under Aragonese domination. The Aragonese made it a fief which in 1617 constituted together with Oniferi, Sarule, Ottana, Orotelli, the encontrada of Nuoro and that of Bitti, the marquisate of Orani, fief first of Caterina Da Silva and then of the Fadriguez Fernandez, until it was redeemed to the last feudal lords in 1839 with the suppression of the feudal system wanted by the Savoys.
A large part of the local economy survived, starting from 1917, thanks to the exploitation of the local talc mines, very active until 1978 and today with somewhat reduced activity .--e3bf3d2080fa4e1fbc59e6385843a97c!
