Alassio and its origins…

The origins of Alassio and especially those of the name are linked to an ancient and famous legend. Princess Adelasia, daughter of the emperor Ottone, fled from the court together with the brave Aleramo and the two took refuge in the hills of Alassio to escape the wrath of her father who opposed their union. As always in these cases there is a happy ending: thanks to the valor and courage shown in battle by Aleramo and also thanks to the mediation of the bishop of Albenga, the couple is reconciled with the emperor who gives Aleramo as much land as he can cover in three days with his horse.
