Castelletto (Castelletto /kasteˈletu/ in Ligurian) is a residential neighborhood located on the hills overlooking the historic center of Genoa, between the Prè, Maddalena, Portoria and San Vincenzo neighborhoods to the south, Oregina to the west and three neighborhoods of Val Bisagno (San Fruttuoso, Marassi and Staglieno) to the east.
The intensive population of the neighborhood occurs progressively starting since the nineteenth century, when with the urban revolution begun on a project by Carlo Barabino the hill was identified as an ideal area for the bourgeois residential district, not far from the center and with an enviable panoramic opening onto the town centre.
