Zogno is an Italian town of 9 094 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy. The municipality is located in the lower Valle Brembana on a slope between the eastern slope of Monte Zucco (1232 m asl) and a bend of the Brembo river about 11 kilometers north-west of the Orobic capital. The municipality is part of the Brembana Valley Mountain Community. It is about 18 kilometers from Bergamo and about 70 kilometers from Milan.

Territory
Located in the lower portion of the Brembana Valley not far from San Pellegrino Terme (4 km). The capital extends along the valley bottom road, on the right bank of the Brembo river, while the other inhabited centers are located mainly on the left bank.
History
Antiquity
The area where the town stands was inhabited since prehistoric times as attest the finds found in a cave of the place, called "Büsa dell'Andrea" .
The Middle Ages
There are documents dating back to the end of the 12th century which testify to the existence of Zogno as a rural Municipality: in the History of Zogno and some neighboring lands of Bortolo Belotti we read that a parchment of the Monastery of Astino of 1220 mentions Giovanni Geze as "Consul" of Zogno.
Zogno became an important center under the domination of Venice. In past centuries the population was mainly used in agriculture, cattle breeding and pastoralism, although there was no lack of craft activities related to the spinning of wool, linen and the weaving of cloths. The contemporary age in the fraction of Poscante on December 18, 1773, the famous brigand Vincenzo Pacchiana (paci Paciana) was born, the Italian Robin Hood who stole from the rich, and really gave to the poor. Named by his contemporaries: king of the road, king of the mountain. During the nineteenth century, the paper and cement industries took hold. Today thanks to a constant development, both in the economic field (for example the Manifattura Valle Brembana, a textile industry still existing, recently failed) and urbanistic, Zogno is the most populous country of the Brembana Valley with numerous commercial activities, industries textiles, extractives, wood crafts and building companies. With the Royal Decree of February 16th 1928 the finite municipalities of Stabello, Poscante, Grumello de 'Zanchi, Endenna, Somendenna and Spino al Brembo were merged.

The Museo della Valle, located in a seventeenth-century building in the historic center, exhibits in twelve rooms a rich series of finds on the agricultural and peasant society of the valley.
